DM-Foundry By SmokeRingHalo

Old skool and hardcore but not HOLP as it's heavily decorated. The layout has good flow and a nice variety in the size of the rooms and areas. The main areas are a courtyard, the surrounding buildings that skirt the yard and the foundry itself. Within that there are quite a few narrow passageways and smaller connecting rooms. This all allows the action to flow and give that hardcore feeling that I know many of you crave. You won't be disappointed here as the gameplay is golden.
Player count is 4 to 8 which makes it a small to medium map. It does start to feel over crowded above 8. The bots have been pathed to a high standard and they put up a better fight than in a lot of custom maps. Pick-ups have been laid out with equal care.
Performance 26/30 (Hardware)
The same as most of the stock maps at around or above 30 with occasional dips below. Only really noticeable in the most messy of moments and also in the foundry itself. That heat haze effect impacts the frames as well.
Eye Candy 23/25
Excellent in all but one area of the design. In the tunnel with all the windows down one side the colour looks too saturated. It has a bit too much green in the palette and I suspect its the post processing rather than the lighting. Other than that everywhere else is really beautiful. The detail is everywhere from the debris strewn courtyard to the dirty dank sewer. If you don't like clutter you may find this a little distracting. The industrial look has been created well with good variation between foundry and semi-demolished buildings. Two different looking areas yet cohesive within the map.
The lighting is also good with nice use of different colour. The shadows can become a little indistinct in places but it's not that noticeable. Overall the visuals will impress. The Malcolm graffiti is a nice touch and the particle effects have been optimised for low, medium and high detail settings.
The Details 15/15
No slip ups so far and that trend continues here.
Final Score 92/100
An excellent release and one you should definitely download. It wouldn't surprise me if it becomes a permanent fixture on rotations.
