DM-Bagger SE By Kevboy

Nothing really major has changed as far as layout is concerned but the pick-ups have. There are no "spawn and drop" moments but the jumping from beam to beam is still there. As before this still hampers flow. A central or side walkway or gantry would have eased this problem. The long lift up to the top is still there as is the big drop back down. Again this causes a lot of damage but the nimble footed (fingered?) can use the long cables. You become very exposed though. The pick-ups on the big wheel are still difficult to grab without racking up a suicide but it feels less frustrating. Another thing is that the heat haze has gone so aiming has improved.

The lower player count has changed from 4 to 8 with the higher remaining at 12. The bots run around and fight pretty well and they do visit all areas. They even try to grab the pick-ups in the big wheel. The favourite area is still the central section but not as much as before. Gameplay has improved overall and things feel a bit more solid and sure footed but it won't appeal to everyone.

Performance 25/30 (Hardware)

An improvement with frames over 30 most of the time. The whole map is smoother and quicker.

Eye Candy 21/25

Improvements here as well. The terrain and external area has had a big revamp. The terrain looks more like terrain and the addition of huge sparking electric lines adds to the view. This is the first major improvement you'll notice. There's a better feeling of heat and glaring sun. The atmosphere feels less gimmicky and a step or two closer to realism. One thing does hinder this though, the rocks on the conveyor belt still act really strangely. They move independently of the belt, sometimes disappearing altogether. The paint still doesn't look heat damaged or blasted by dry, arid sand.

The lighting has been improved a little but there wasn't much wrong with it in the first place.

The Details 15/15

All here like before.

Final Score 80/100

Improved but not hugely different to the original. If low frames spoiled your enjoyment of this unique map then this new version may be for you.
