DM-Aftermath Final v2 Stuey95
Reviewed by Firefly.
It once was a prosperous Axon city but the Necris turned it into an urban wasteland. The survivors fight tooth and nail to survive.
Gameplay 25/30
This is a big, sprawling urban layout with streets and a wide container yard. A number of jump pads allow access to the roofs of some of the buildings. There are a couple of parts where the scenery snags such as the blocked entrance to the bridge. On the corners of the pavement you have to jump to clear a slight height. Plus you can also get stuck for a few seconds there. Despite small niggles like that the flow is very good and a lot of fun. Weapon placement is OK but there needs to be more.
The map size does accommodate the 24 to 32 player load and the bots manage to spread themselves well throughout the map. You'll find skirmishes all over the map as well as smaller cat and mouse games. I didn't see any bot problem
Performance 26/30Hardware)
Good frames especially impressive considering the large and open layout as well as the high player count.
Eye Candy 18/25
The urban wasteland theme has been implemented pretty well. It lacks a little detail here and there but over all looks nice. A few small niggles though such as some of the wrecked cars are the wrong scale. Walk around with the "behindview 1" command in the console and you'll see what I mean. This is a good way of making sure the scale is right. One other was the area where all the containers live. The water feature seemed out of place stuck in the middle. Plus the water flowing down the steps looked a little strange. Maybe a smooth strip of concrete or even a groove would have worked well. Also some signs that the Necris had been there such as old Necris pipes laying around would have added to the atmosphere.
Lighting is OK but could have done with a touch more colour here and there. The whole atmosphere is good though.
The Details 12/15
No readme but the back story is there in the ini.
Final Score 81/100
While it has a few rough edges this is fun to play and should turn up on servers. The FPS is also smooth which will help its appeal. Give it a try.

Has anybody been able to download this map or is it just me, who hits a dead end?

The file has now been fixed. The download links are fine it's the zip that wasn't. Probably why the mirrors failed.
Sorry for the confusion and it is now fixed.
